Endurance and inheritance
The season of the long memory.
Winter crosses to the old world and stays a while. Europe and Asia are where most of what we call history was written down, argued about, burned, copied by hand, and passed to somebody else. It is the season of empires and quiet villages, of the Silk Road and the monastery, of the cathedral and the temple standing as two answers to the same question.
It is also the season that suits the weather. Long evenings, read-alouds that run late, and a child sitting with a story from a place where the winter is serious.

Foundations
The ancient world, east and west
River civilisations, the first cities, the first writing, and the philosophies that are still being quoted at your dinner table without anyone noticing.
The long middle
Roads, faiths, and the things that survived
The Silk Road, the great faiths and the buildings they raised, the copying of books by hand, and the villages that simply kept going while empires changed names above them.
The turn
Rebirth, invention, and the modern shape
Printing, exploration, revolution, and industry. The season ends looking outward, which is exactly where Spring picks it up.
A cathedral and a temple are two answers to the same question. A child can see that with their eyes.

Europe and Asia travelled chronologically, with Friday countries drawn from both continents and the history journey moving ancient to modern.
Twelve doorways from the season's themes: myth, endurance, exile, invention, and the long inheritance.

European and Asian anchor composers studied formally, and the Car Canon moving from Baroque into Classical and Romantic.
