Light, Color and Vision Discovery Lab
Ages 5 to 7 Date to be announcedLight, shadow, prisms, and colour mixing, explored through guided hands-on discovery in a room dark enough to see properly.
Welcome to Axis Learning Pods
The curriculum on the page, and then the same week with other families in the room.
Optional, hands-on sessions that extend a season you are already running at home.
A lab takes one invitation out of the curriculum and gives it the things a kitchen table cannot: the equipment, the mess, the space, and eight or ten other families working on the same thing at the same time. Prisms and a dark room. Planks and a load to test. A floor big enough to build a world on.
They are not classes and nobody is being taught at. They run the way the Imagination Studio runs, which is to say the invitation is offered and the children decide what to do with it. The adults stay, and generally end up building something too.
Parents stay with their children during every in-person lab. Axis does not provide drop-off care. A parent or guardian remains onsite for the full session, and that is not a limitation we are apologising for. It is the point.
Dates open a season at a time. Join the list below and you will hear before the calendar goes public, which matters because capacity is small on purpose.

Build a bridge, then load it until it fails, then build a better one. Balance, load, and design learned the way engineers actually learn them.
Design an imaginary world using real cartography: landforms, symbols, scale, and legend. Then tell us who lives there and why the river matters.
Not drop-off care. A room where families work beside each other.
Axis Community Labs
Labs extend a curriculum rather than replace one. Families arrive already inside the same week, which is what makes two hours enough.
Ten to fourteen families. Beyond that the room stops being a studio and starts being a classroom, and there are plenty of those already.
Everything listed on a lab is provided. Bring a water bottle and clothes that are allowed to get ruined.
A season's labs are announced together, a few weeks ahead. The waiting list hears first.
Mixed ages are welcome across the listed range. If you have a sibling just outside the band, write and ask. In practice most labs accommodate them, and the age range is guidance rather than a gate.
